Best of 2019

Wow. 2019 was quite a year. It was the year I moved back to Michigan from California. The year I got my first dog, Louie. The year I moved into a studio apartment alone. The year I stopped trying to be “cool” or trendy and just became my true, nerdy self. It was a hard year, though. I think everyone had a hard year. The majority of my couples had deaths in their family. Parents who should’ve been there. Siblings who should’ve been there. I saw a lot of tears this year. I cried along with them behind my camera because after losing my dad last year, I felt their pain.

Let it be known though, that there was so much joy. You will see it on their faces in these photos. One thing that has kept me going this year is to look for the joy, it’s still here even when things feel so, so hard.

This year I wanted more than ever just to tell the truth with the photos that I’m giving my couples. To document their day without interfering at all. To tell the story of their love and their family and all that comes with it. I’m so lucky to be invited into so many peoples’ lives. I show up knowing hardly anyone and leave feeling like I’m part of the family. Thank you so much to everyone who hired me this year. I cried looking through these photos because I can’t believe I got to witness all of this. Now put on some Novo Amor or something while you look though these…that’s what I’d do!
