Best of 2020

Oh 2020….what a heart breaking, wild, sad, joyful, restful, insane, stress filled, funny year. Experiencing 2020 as a wedding photographer, during a pandemic, was both insanely stressful but so rewarding. I got to witness loved ones gather that hadn’t seen each other in months. I got to see how couples handled rescheduling or downsizing or changing venues. I got to witness visiting grandparents through windows at nursing homes. There were giant weddings downsized to a tailgate in the church parking lot. Venues changed from ballrooms to backyards. Lots of weddings at Airbnbs or local parks. Zoom calls and Facetimes were frequent so loved ones could also join in. Couples who rescheduled their wedding to next year but still got married this year anyway.

As heartbreaking as this year turned out to be, there was so much joy and love.

Thank you to everyone who hired me and let me take your photo in the midst of a pandemic. Every single one of you helped me to survive this year and made my job feel more important than ever. The photos of guests wearing masks, of socially distant group photos, and of waving to grandparents from far away will be a part of history. Now here’s to 2021 and hoping this pandemic ends soon 😅
